WE WANT SPRING, WE WANT SPRING!

February draws to a close and the Spencer family is looking with hope towards a milder and gentler spring, after saying good by to loved ones this winter. Nathan is getting excited for Spring Track. Kira has hosted a pancake breakfast for her track team here at the house, and is in need of a restful Spring Break, after fighting off colds, achillies heel issues and gruelling second trimester finals schedule. Trevor is getting bigger, stronger and faster by the day as he works out in Taekwando and on weights. Connor has begun piano lessons and is still a skinny bean, but we do see growth in all areas. Linda trying to wrap her head around CHAPTER 1 for the dissertation, back from her Norwegian travels with fond memories of beautiful Oslo, a city that she would live in in a heartbeat, if she could transport family, work and friends to.

IN MEMORY: Larry Haffner 10-7-1946 to 2-5-2005

Linda's oldest brother Larry passed away peacfully in the early evening of Saturday February 5th after lapsing into a coma the previous night. He was surrounded by family (his daughter Kristen and wife Carla) and freinds. We feel lucky that we were able to spend some precious time with him last week. His battle with adenoma carcinoma of the lung and spine ended after a gruelling 9 months. He will be missed by all.

We said goodbye to Nathan's grandmother last week. She was quite a lady and lived to be 95. Born and raised in South Dakota, she had a quite a presence. Her family was the Minier family, and one of her relatives actually had s town in Illinois named after him. She ran a small general store in Lake Norden for years and was known for her kindness and generosity to others. In the cards the family received after her death there were stories of how she always gave people the benefit of the doubt and extended credit to many families who had fallen upon hard times. We all loved her for her spirit and her fiery support of the Democratic party. The children will remember her disdain for George Bush and her comment, "Why I wouldn't cross the road to say hi to him!" Rest in Peace Grandma

Grandma always took in stray cats, and Nathan remembers that when his family got new cats, they had to wait until Grandma Doris came to name the cat

KIRA is SEVENTEEN!!!

Can you believe that our Kira is 17? It seems like just yesterday that it was a snowy winter day in Pocatello when our baby girl was born. Now she is driving and planning for her college days. For her birthday, we went out to Eugene, Oregon to visit U of O. Kira is thinking ahead and wanted to know what a neuroscience program such as U of O wanted in its incoming graduate students. She was thrilled to find out that some of the schools she is thinking about for undergrad are well thought of. Kiki's first choice at this time is Macalaster, College in St. Paul. Lucky for all of us, we still get our girl for one more year. I am not sure what the boys will do when she is gone, except that Trevor already has plans for her room. Wishing you all well this holiday season.
